Ahmedabad-Gujarat: Unseasonal rains and hailstorms wreaked havoc in Gujarat from November 26, claiming 24 lives in lightning strikes and injuring 25, with over 70 animals also perishing.

The sudden thunderstorm affected more than 220 talukas, causing damage to standing crops. Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed condolences and highlighted relief efforts by local administration.

The ceramic industry in Morbi faced disruptions, and Agriculture Minister Raghavij Patel announced plans for a comprehensive survey to assess crop and livestock damage. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, in Japan for an official visit, directed officials to start the damage assessment survey.
